Rebels Facing Dons Looking To Keep Streaking

An 8-3 San Francisco squad has already done battle with two other Undefeated Mountain West Teams This Year.

The Dons are led by first-year head coach Chris Gerlufsen. They are a deep and balanced team, playing 10 guys nine minutes or more. Senior Guard Kalil Shabazz and Tyler Roberts are the leading scorers for the team, however, several players contribute including Zane Meeks who leads the team in rebounding with almost 6 per game, along with center Volodymyr Markovetskyy who leads the team in both field goal and free throw shooting.

Analysis: This game feels like its weakness against strength, as the Dons don’t score all that well, and the Rebels don’t give up much. On the other hand, it’s still the first game back after a week-long layoff, and I wonder about the overall rhythm of the team.

Intangibles: The Dons just went toe to toe with New Mexico less than a week ago, that experience alone is going to give them a boost of confidence. Expect this to be a team coming in looking to prove themselves after striking out against Utah State and New Mexico.

Prediction: Lot of questions about this game, however, the Reb’s defense is not one of them. I’m thoroughly counting on 15-20 steals, and expect them to be able to convert a high percentage. San Francisco will be good enough to slow them down in the halfcourt, however, I’m not sure if they have enough firepower to get a road victory in this spot. Expect a low-scoring rock fight that the Rebels withstand. 58-55
