Portal Poppin: Big Day For Rebels Signing 3

UNLV made some moves on the recruiting front, getting three transfer commitments this weekend.

Keylan Boone 6’8 PF Pacific – Boone is considered the 12th-ranked available transfer PF prospect according to ON3, he played three seasons at Oklahoma State and one at Pacific. Boone led the Tigers in scoring averaging 13.9 points per game. Boone is a proven wing scorer that will provide the Rebels with an offensive punch.

Kalib Boone 6’9 PF Oklahoma St – Boone is regarded as the 5th ranked available PF transfer prospect according to On3. He averaged 10.6 points per game for the Cowboys and received third-team all big 12 honors. He scored in double figures in 17 games last season, including a career-high 27 points against No. 4 Kansas. Boone was named Big 12 Player of the Week twice

Jalen Hill 6’8 SF Oklahoma – Hill is regarded as the #28th ranked available transfer product according to On3, he averaged 9.7 points per game for the Sooners. The forward has strong ties to both the area, as well as the staff, having starred at Clark HS, before being recruited by coach Kruger to Oklahoma.

With the addition of these three transfers, the Rebels 2023-2024 team is starting to take shape. In addition to the transfers, the Rebels Signed Brooklyn Hicks, a 3-star combo guard from Timberline, Wa who was named Mr basketball by the State of Washington’s coaches association. They also signed junior college forward Robert Whaley who averaged 14.4 points per game for the College of Southern Idaho.

With the signings, the Rebels have addressed several needs including wing scoring, and perimeter ballhandling. Currently, the depth chart looks like this.

PG: Brooklyn Hicks, Jackie Johnson, Justin Webster,

Wings: Shane Nowell, Keylan Boone, Jalen Hill, Louis Rodriguez

Bigs Kalib Boone, Isaiah Cottrell, Robert Whaley

The Rebels could use another ballhandler, as well as an interior presence, however if the early returns are any indication, it looks as if they have upgraded their talent for the 2023-24 season.
